Teacher Lineage

Through 20 years of contemplative practice, Sankhodae has had great questions and exhaustive searches for meaning of the self and life. He has studied with many theological groups and spiritual practices, making great inroads in understanding mind both small and large. He has acquired skillful means from schools both of western and eastern thought and has been inspired by many great mystics and teachers of both eastern and western lineage. However, Sankhodae realizes that there is no better teacher than this present moment and that name and form simply lead us away from our true nature. His intuitive and spiritual insights have helped and counseled people for over a decade. Sankhodae is a Dharma name given to him by the Venerable Samu Sunim when he formally adopted the vows and precepts of the great wisdom teaching of Buddhism, or Awakening. He has been recognized to have great mastery in both Zen tradition and other healing modalities such as Radiance Technique, Tummo Rieki and has long been a practitioner of Chi Gong. His quest to understand the human condition in the most difficult of situations where people are faced with great pain and suffering, such as he has endured at times in his life, led him to work with the homeless as well as the sick and dying in a Hospice setting. Sankhodae considers it his mission to help people help themselves when confronted with great distress and anxiety and to find joy in the simple moments, thus cultivating a heart of gratitude and lighting the spark of inquiry into our situation. The lineage of which Sankhodae is a part draws from the Chogey Zen traditions as well as other Buddhist contemporaries to help people on the path to healing and awakening.
